Dry Stone Field Wall Repair In Stirling.
Blairvockie farm, Alongside Loch Lomond, Stirlingshire.
As a dry stone waller, I was completely spoilt with the location and the stone – it couldn’t get much better. With an audience of a dozen Belted Galloways, I had work to do.
A 2-metre section of the wall had collapsed down into the burn with another section demolished, after a large oak tree had fell across it. With the Oak tree still alive I had to build a cheekend either side along with the 2m section.
With only the stone that was already there to use, every decision counted. I had to make careful, calculated choices about which shapes and sizes of stone would work best in each part of the rebuild. This is exactly how it would of been constructed back in the day, working with what nature provided within walking distance.
